I am a CPA and have worked in public accounting for 26 years. There is only so much creativity one can use while preparing tax returns, so that is why I chose oil painting as a hobby. Painting helps keep my brain in balance.
I was raised by a pack of wild wiener dogs, and never had a chance to take art lessons during my childhood. It was not until I was 31 that I fulfilled my desire to take painting lessons. I enrolled in Carol Armstrongs Studio Painting at the Firehouse Art Center and am still in the class. Carol taught me the technique impasto, which means a thick covering of paint. With this technique and lots of colorful oils, I transform photographs of my favorite subjects (at the moment: wiener dogs and night scenes) into paintings which allow the viewer to use his/her imagination.
